Finally, after a long wait, the BC Regional Pilot Program for Entrepreneurs is officially announced with a list of participating communities.

There is a wide range of priority sectors that one can choose from such as manufacturing, accommodation, restaurants, clothing stores, accounting services, data processing, general merchandise stores, just to name a few.

Minimum requirement is a net worth of $300,000 with investment amount of $100,000. The catch is that unlike the Entrepreneur Immigration – Base Category, first, the entrepreneur must obtain a CLB 4 in English/French.  Second, the person must have at least 3 years of business ownership or 4 years as Senior Manager in the last 5 years.

In addition, the applicant has to be referred by the community, which basically means the applicant must be able to present the business plan to the Community.  It is not stated if the applicant can use someone who is fluent in English/French to conduct the presentation.  But even if this is allowed, these communities may give more preference to someone who can do the presentation himself/herself since the entrepreneur will be living among them.
