Family reunion is one of the key objectives of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
Sponsor your family, if you are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.
Family Sponsorship:
Canadian citizens or permanents residents may sponsor their spouse, common-law partner, dependent children, parents, etc. for permanent residence in Canada. The sponsor must meet the eligibility test and the sponsored family member must meet all immigration requirements before a Permanent Resident Visa can be issued.
Eligibility to be a Sponsor:
● be 18 years of age or older;
● be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
● reside in Canada;
● sign an undertaking promising to provide for the basic requirements of the person being sponsored;
● have an income to qualify for sponsorship (not required for sponsored spouse and children)
Family Sponsorship may not be as easy as many think it. According to a IRCC Report, more than 41 percent of these cases are returned mostly due to insufficient documentation and information. This has led to unnecessary delays in processing time.
